R80 Bitza... take 2!

Well it's been a long time coming but I dug the R80RT/GS bitza I built last year out of the back of the garage and decided to have another little tinker.. This time taking the project a little further (bit of paint etc)..

Here's what she looks like now.. I still have a few odds and ends to sort out.. petrol tank could do with some new paint, I need to fit some warning lights on the dash, make/find a rack to fit behind the seat and figure out the exhuast system (I have a Y peice, high level link pipe and short stubby race style can ready) but it doesn't quite clear the swing arm (anyone know of someone local to suffolk who can bend the Y peice out slightly?).. either that or I need to find some stubby cans for a low level each side system.

A big thankyou to all those who have helped (advice and some good deals on parts).. Hopefully she will be finished and mot'd again this weekend.. Which will give me a couple of weeks to give her a complete shake down before the ride down for the airhead wee-kend!

So.. your thoughts ladies & gentlemen.. Have a ruined a perfectly good RT?

Yep thats Another R80.. the red one I picked up spares/repairs a few weeks back... I'm still toying with what to do with it.. But right now it's on hold pending the completion of this one and a bit of work on the other bike languishing in there (my Z1000ltd).

I like it apart from the rear mudguard. Just doesn't look in keeping somehow. A rack would make it look better at the rear.

I agree about the rear guard.. it's not quite right.. but I cant put my finger on why... And I'm hopefull that the rack I'm making will correct the odd look.

Yup.. I did think about the Marlborough colours.. But it's simply not enough of a PD rep to carry them off (I dont think).. I also liked the looks of the 81PD machines:

I agree actually.. they are a little too small for the look of the bike! But I had them kicking about so they will do until I source some slightly bigger (oval) ones.

As for the back.. It's getting a rack which I'm currently putting together.. Although I'm currently stumped on how to fit it to the bike right now without it looking "tacked on"..

I wish.. 1983 - 2.25petrol... Tbh.. it looks nice and straight but it needs some serious work before it's next mot.. front brakes are shite, front body to chassis mounts corroded and most important.. rear engine oil seals gone.. hence it leaves a nice big puddle wherever you park it! hey ho.. gotta love old landies!

EEEEE. The Landy takes me back. I had an identical one a few years ago. put some 750 knobblies on her and did the Cop-Drive on Salisbury Plain. bloody fantastic. ran all night and the next day without a hiccup except for the battery which the humungus spolights drained in about half an hour. Great cars though.

I like the bike too, what tank is it though.

I bought one of those off Tarka a few years ago. They were made in Yorkshire I think for 100/7's. Does it fit properly at the rear of the tank?
