R80 g/s possibly the best bike BMW ever made

Repaint I think….. I believe alpine white and dunkel blue were the only two colours for the uk at least.
( have seen pale blue on a late g/s, and a red, also late g/s but not UK bikes…..)
Never seen a black g/s as standard colour…. But I could be wrong…it happens occaisionally!

Remember putting a pair of RS barrels ( 1996 ) etc on my R80g/s...pinked a tad but went like hot snot !No,,!
The piston is fitted correctly,I just wrote on it upside down

I am very happy with my 80GS. Light, nimble, quicker than me..... running beautifully thanks to Mikeyboy fixing it after it was assaulted by a trike!
Her insurance coughed up, along with the other 5 or 6 parked bikes she ran over the top of, or knocked asunder!
Not so sure it isn't. I rode one of the very first imported UK ones back in the 80's and it was exactly in that colour scheme from the factory.
Only early g/s bikes ive ever seen were white…. Or later the dunkel Blau colour scheme.

RealOEM lists the tank and panel colours from dates of production.
R80 G/S:
Alpine White 1st September 1980
Dark Blue 1st September 1981
Henna Red 18th August 1986
Tuareg Blue 18th August 1986
R80G/S Paris Dakar:
Alpine White 1st May 1984
The rare Tuareg Blue looks stunning and I know a man who has a brand new unused original in his garage!

I am sure the owner has plans for using it in adding to his collection of G/S bikes.
That is far too clean…… looks great in either colour scheme.
