R80G/S

G/S - monolever rear end
GS - paralever

there's lots of minor detail differences, but that's basically it (no pun intended).

Do you mean a g/s and a GS ??? :blast:blast

g/s = Mono, as in first pic
GS = Para, as pic 2.>>

Lads can someone please tell me what is the real diffrence between GS and G/S:confused:

I beleive the words are also different.

[ The BMW GS series of dual purpose off-road/on-road BMW motorcycles have been produced from 1980, when the R80G/S was launched, to the present day. The GS refers to either Gelände/Straße (German: off-road/road) or Gelände Sport.[1] GS motorcycles can be distinguished from other BMW models by their longer travel suspension, an upright riding position, and larger front wheels – typically 19 to 21 inch.]

one bit i don't understand, and i own one.

what's with the lower case g/s thing? mine says G/S on the side panel

It has always been G/S as far as BMW are concerned

The "revivalists" on here who discovered the Bike a few years ago seem to have made the lower case thing up
