My year 2000 gs 850 seems to be running a bit lean and is backfiring abit, the bike is standard apart from a remus exhaust, i have noticed that on the throttle bodies that there is a screw that i pressume is the air screw, does anyone know how many turns out this should be. Any help and advice would be much appreciated as im new to the world of the weird and wonderfull BMW,s.

Marky you probably need the CO checked on the wee bike 1.5 to 2.25% is what you are aiming for Leaner than 1.5% it will surge majestically and Richer than 2.25 % it will be needing filled up regularly. It's very important that this CO is checked when the engine is fully up to operating temperature! Or you'll get an inaccurate reading!

However it may just be that the Remus is letting it breathe a bit better and the odd bit of unburned gas is coming to life in the pipe :thumb

In the last week I have had to disconect the electrical supply to the injectors and clean the terminals and refit due to alittle corrosion which was causing my 850 to run alittle rough, along with some injector cleaner in the tank, the bike is running alot smoother.
