R850R front brake grub screw

Hi, looking for some advice, I have just changed my front right hand side brake caliper grub screw for a bleed nipple that I bought from Ebay as being compatible with my bike and Brembo brakes, trouble is that there is some brake fluid weeping from around the bleed nipple threads. Have I done something wrong or should I have applied some kind of grease around the threads to seal them?. It does look slightly odd as the bleed nipple thread haven't gone all the way in, there is still about 5mm of thread showing above the housing where I removed the grub screw, seems like the threads are too long.

Tighten it some more.

Are you talking about the factory fill point ?

tall cylindrical shaped thing like an inverted top hat ??

Yeah well that is a fill point for the system

The grub screw was flat on the bottom to "seal" the port from debris entering

The port self sealed as it was a trapped ball

your new "bleed nipple" point is now pressing on the ball and it is leaking

You NEED to heat the calliper body at the fill point to about 100 degrees and unscrew that Fill point (the cylindrical thing") and fit a bleed nipple in its place !

IF you do not heat it? It will be very difficult to remove and you will tear the threads and fuck the calliper!

Possibly best to have someone with more mechanical knowledge involved from here on !

Thanks DrFarkoff, that's a perfectly clear explanation, why couldn't the Haynes manual have said that!. I didn't realise there was a ball valve in the fill point, makes sense now. I don't think I will try and remove the fill point though, prefer to leave that to someone more experienced. Thanks again
