I have had the hubs vapour blasted and the rims polished and now it is time to send them to the wheel builder. Before I do I must insert the bearing And unfortunately I did not keep the parts in order.
My question is on which side does the large and small top hat go and is 50nm a suitable torque to assemble the stack in the hub. In the photos I have the large top hat against the flange of the wheel centre. All of the diagrams that I have found so far do not show a clear distinction .

Lots of information here, it told me all I needed to know to replace the wheel bearings on my R100. If those are new bearings you will most likely need to reshim.
The top hats are the right way round in the top photo ei the top hat with the larger flange is on the left if you are looking from the rear of the bike .
There is no set torque figure to preload the bearings. I hope this is of help.:beerjug:
