I don't know if its been mentioned on this site yet but I thought I'd let you know that Mark - one of Rainbow's mechanics, died after a short illness on April 17th 2009. He was 38.
Mark was the quiet one in the workshop, never said a lot but when he did it was short and to the point, didn't mince his words and took no prisoners.
His last project was making his own streetfighter from a Honda X11 which he'd finished recently. One of his ambitions was to have it featured in Back Street Hero's or Street Fighter magazine, something I think his girlfriend is planning to complete for him.
Mark's funeral will be taking place at Herringthorpe Crematorium in Rotherham on Thursday 30th May at 11am.
Rainbow will be closed that day so that staff and friends may attend.
A big thankyou to customers who have beared with us during this difficult time.
He's very greatly missed downstairs by all of us.

Thanks for that Skywalker ... just back from Germany. Heared the terrible news while away :tears

Mark always had time to natter, and as you say, he didn't mince his words, sit on the fence, or take any prisoners... I like that in people. I knew he liked the sausage rolls I took in ;)

I just feel empty and sad at his passing, my thoughts go to his girlfriend, friends and family. From the little I knew of him I liked.

See you Saturday Skywalker ....

Micky

Sentiment echoed Skywalker

As others said..................Mark was better for knowing and it took time to get to know him

He was a shy, quiet man with a big heart

Never afraid of hardwork and would pitch in

Once he knew you he'd always pass the time of day

His BlackbirdX11 was a work of art and the SV650 he rebuilt last year was nothing short of perfect

Rainbow is now a poorer place for his passing, but knowing the rest of you techies - you'll rise to the challenge in the short term

Sorry folks as Micky said April 30th. Jonny G's going to ride Mark's bike there.
As for Steve being busy that's a bit of an understatement.
We've currently got an approximate lead time in the workshop of over 3 weeks and Steve's been trying to cover some of the pre booked work that had been allocated for Mark to do so hopefully when we get over that period we should be able to cope a bit better.

I can't get my breath.......logged on here just to have a look around and end up reading about Mark:mad:

R I P Mark.....Rainbow will be a poorer place without you.

:rose

He serviced my bike 3 weeks befor his passing over, That was the first time i had met him. He talked to me about his passion for his streetbike project, then just said your bike is ok. I didn't feel the need to question him about it, His passion for bikes said all i needed to know.

Ride for ever.
