Just had my first experience of using RAM products including their excellent Aqua Box which is suitable for PDA's and MP3 players.

Now I know not everyone is into music on the move, but as one who is I was fed up with throwing my Ipod into a pocket or tank bag so decided to try this as a solution which gave the potential of controlling the damn thing with gloves on and at the same time lose the trailing wires and worry if the pocket was really waterproof.

The Aqua Box is an encased holder with seal and flex-lens so you can touch through lens to operate buttons. Power, earphone and accessory cables are routed through self draining baffle design to keep moisture out yet allow device to breath and stay cool.

The Aqua Box flex-lens can be easily replaced in seconds if scratched or damaged.

I mounted the box on the bars using a RAM U-Bolt Mount, I had intended to mount it on the bar above the clocks but it would have conflicted with the GPS.

Very impressed with the quality of the product and it works perfectly with the Ipod in place allowing control of all the functions.

Big thanks to RAM man for taking the time to talk me through the various mounting option. :thumb

Thanks for the info Thunder. Do you know if they do a smaller one to fit a Sony Erricsson W800 Walkman phone in it. I've had a look on the Ram Site, but I'm having trouble finding it.

They do a smaller version of the box, you should be able to link to it from here

The boxes are not specifically made for paticular items so it's a case of seeeing what will fit. :thumb

Hi Thunder, I got one of these last week and have mounted it in the same location as you. I've fed the wires through the hole i punched out in centre of the back of the casing, is this what you did?
My Ipod seems to get quite hot does yours?

Yes that's exactly the routing I used for the wires, the design of the baffle them to enter in such away that water cannot get into the box.

I noticed in the description of the box that the baffle also allowed airflow to allow the device to breathe and keep cool but it struck me that this would be limited by the supplied packing foam.

I've not noticed the Ipod getting hot as yet, but to be honest so far I've left it in the box when I stop, I'll check it next run out and see. If it is getting hot perhaps cutting the foam directly above the baffle or perforating it would be the answer?

Beware - unless you have this damped somehow, you'll fry your HD in short order.
