Range and consumption

I can get 70mpg sticking to 60mph in 6th gear. If it ever dropped below 55mpg I would get rid of it! Those F800's are awesome on frugal fuel consumption, my good lady regularly gets 70mpg form hers. I just changed my tyres at 9000 miles. They were still well within legal limits but starting to feel a bit vague on the twisties.

OK, on the trip back South, it ticked onto "you're empty mate" at 157, and actually started to cut out at 176 miles. Some frantic wriggling then eked another three miles out of it before it started to get really unhappy with me. I'd normally try lying it on either side, and seeing what that did at this point, but I was about to head down onto the A12, and did not really fancy coming to a final halt in a tunnel with a 50mph limit.

So, from "empty" to empty, I got 22 miles at 80mph. That is enough that I am perfectly happy to wait until I really get to zero displayed before filling up.

Oh, and it took 20 litres to get it back to brimmed.

Well, I try most days in central London, but it is not easy, which is why I am half thinking of taking the car, rather than the bike up the Alps next week.

I am, of course, dithering far too much on what should be quite a simple decision.

My stats are usually about the same as those reported in the first post in this message, however I recently rode round Norfolk in a group that included an inexperienced lady rider and as I was mainly riding as "rear-gunner" wasn't really riding my socks off. On one of the days I got nearly 60mpg, had done 150 miles (which is usually about when the orange light comes on) and still had an indicated 85 on the range and no light - shame I had to top up at the same time as the other riders as would have been interesting to run it down to almost 0 range

BTW never actually riden below 0 but would guess that there would be maybe 15-20 miles at least on the 0 indicator.
