Rattled

As this thread is a piss take :blast do you feel that in some ways the new bike is more dealer dependent than it older relatives? This ain't knocking the new bike, if you like well ride it and enjoy it. But so far we have:-

Dealer support to change the date format? come on FFS what's that abogeut?

The amount of effort required to remove the filler neck insert?

The battery I believe is now hidden under a panel which probably needs torx scewdrivers to remove? This last one is the one that gets me most, we have all done it, run a battery down by mistake ,easily done. But having to take side panels of the bike off to get your jump leads on? is BMW taking the piss.
In fact, there's only one torx screw to remove, then the (small) panel is easly pulled off from two clips. However, I think you have to pull the battery out to to get to the positive terminal, and it seems it's easier said than done. Now, THAT's ridiculous.

Having had an R1150R for several years where you had to take the tank off to access the battery, I thought this was a pretty cool improvement.

Of course I was a harder man then and this is just another sign I'm going soft.

You don't need to remove the battery to get at both terminals as, there is a remote positive. Which is very handy!

You have to take the seat off on both bikes to get to the battery - on the new one to get the Torx screw driver that is under the pillion seat, there is only one short Torx to remove, hardly a deal breaker!!

I guess that BMW want it back in one piece so that they can investigate - we'd do the same with our products - if some one has messed about with it before you get it back then it can make it impossible to determine what the real problem is.

Perhaps....... or they can't fix it cos its beyond the abilities of the untrained technicians........ or they can't get the parts. :nenau

Not bad for 200 miles eh ?:augie

One component failure compared to the number of bikes in use so far Worldwide would not be great surprise - if there was a spate of them then that is another thing altogether, only time will tell. I know if I was in charge at BMW I'd insist on it coming back untouched - it's the best way of finding out what happened.

Any suggestion of problems with the LC will be propaganda by 1100 owners. If there were issues BMW would have told us. :thumby:
