Re-packing Remus race can anyone done it ?

Well after 40000 miles my race cans getting ridiculously loud and rattling inside.I'm going to have to pull it apart and have a look see what's what has anyone done this before got any tips before I start ?

I recently re-packed my DRZ silencer (FMF) using these instructions off their web site.

It didn't make it any quieter though

Hi Forry,

I have repacked a couple of cans in the past. The secret is to use no more than the recommended amount of packing it needs to be fairly loosely packed so that it can absorb some of the exhaust noise. Pack it too tightly and you effectively have a straight through exhaust!!

Technically your supposed to repack the exhaust as recomended my the manufacturer but I never bothered with any of my Jap bikes. My Vance & Hines sounded the dogs on my GPZ1100A1 and the Harris works pipe with race baffle sounded even better on my scraggy GPZ1100A2. Can't remember a bike I've not had a 'fruty' pipe on.

The rattle would p+ss me off more than the noise.

Just use bigger ear plugs.

also put a layer of cling film over the sound deading material as this will aid re-insurtion back into the sleeve cling film then melts later
