Reactolite goggles/ riding glasses

If you promise to never ever ride on a route that includes a tunnel of more than 50 metres then go ahead. But as already said its well scary to be zipping along enjoying the view then the darkness of the tunnel becomes pitch black - I kid you not.
If you go through the Gottard or Mt Blanc tunnels or similar, you know well in advance and can take them off before the blackness comes upon you... poor planning in my book.

I shall be renewingmy Bell 500 custom with another one. It is comfortable, doesn't get buffeted about and sits better than either the Arai or Shoei ones. HJC I tried, but it just felt aweful.

And you can get the Bell with an integrated drop down sun shield..

No. Full face helmets are very claustrophobic. the open face Bell 500 is a joy, the extra vision, the extra awareness of your surroundings and you can hear better - ear plugs? Whats all that about? how on earth can you hear what is going on around you?
Ear plugs are about not going deaf! You can still hear other vehicles around you

I take it reactolites are not as good as people say they are then. I'm not worried about tunnels, I doubt I will ever go to Spain again, it is looking doubtful if we will go to France even. Back to the drawing board looking for a decent pair of sunglasses to ride in that I can change the lenses for nightime - what a faff it is though, and having to carry a second pair.
Bought a pair of reactolite glasses from MotoCentral (UKGSERS discount as well) They stock Ugly fish glasses, have had them for nearly a year now and wear them all the time and have found them excellent. They also have a foam seal if you want so keep the wind out, although I don't use the seal

Ride with your normal glasses on-
Approaching a dark cloud? / a tunnel? / nightfall ? hard to miss, just slide sun visor up
Sun's out again? drop down visor
No gimmicks or expenditure required, just common sense. (if you have a helmet with a built-in sun visor natch!)

Ideal. That is what Fat Skeleton advertise.

I always used to wear an open face crash helmet for the exact same reasons KR has given until my girlfriend at the time who was a nurse at St Peter's hospital in Chertsey took me for a walk through her ward to show me the results of a crash where the rider was wearing an open face helmet.... No jaw left... I'll never be able to forget that and I've been wearing a full face ever since.

You get used to it and it has to make sense

Is that because it flaps its tail across your face?

Err…I’m not sure you specified exactly which model of open face you required….you are fucking hard work…

Hmmm. Thank you for your efforts. Please seee the above highlighted text from my original, opening post and the highlighted text of your reply.
If I am 'hard work', you are 'hard of seeing'. :D :beerjug:

Like I said….hard work….you want to wear an open face…..you have been told that reacolites don’t work fast enough….you don’t like other helmet manufacturers’ fit….you like Bell helmets….Bell helmets make an open face helmet with a drop down visor that works…..you say you will renew you Bell for one that doesn’t have the integral visor….knowing that reactilites aren’t an option. In brief, you ask for advice, then ignore it. I believe you have form for that.
