i've got an mot / rego coming up soon and the rear brake light is on

there is no front brake light switch so - i'm fairly sure its the rear circuit :augie

disconnect pressure switch - light still on

wiggle all known wiring to see if its a short - still on - no flickers.

pull fuse thingy - light off

pull conn off relay - light off.

i haven't got a wiring diagram - but i'm thinking the switch is fed with switched ignition live on the red wire then orange to the tail light.

can't see where the light is getting its power from to stay on

anyone got a wiring diagram of the rear brake light circuit ? - or ideas ?

95 rk touring

brake switch has red and orange wires - both have 12v on them.

Perhaps the switch is on the earth side?

If it was shorting to earth before the switch, no matter what you did (apart from breaking the supply, which you've done), the light would then still be on :nenau

i thought that originally - but the orange comes out the brake light switch and reappears as a feed into the rear tail light

earth is black

It's fed from Accy 4 located under the seat..brake light is red/yellow to relay ..

My UK model diagram does have front brake switch...

Give me 5 I'll try and scan in.... 1995 FLHR?

Right done, scanned in nice and clear what's your email address the files are too big to post on the forum...

Will mail later on site today with no email access!

Have you removed it intentionally then? Should be a little plastic plunger tucked inside the brake lever pivot housing and the plastic tit snaps off in the open position if you're hamfisted at replacing the brake lever.....

an update...

I traced the wiring problem to the non-existant front brake light switch - the wires were there though but disappeared up into the switch block.

I just cut one of the wires inside the headlamp shell and marked it for later investigation as to why the switch isn't there, should it be and can i fit one.

good wiring diagram though - thx - thumbs

later....
