Morning all,

Managed to round off one of these while changing pads yesterday (only 24nm!).

Would a dealer carry these on the shelf?

Is it worth upgrading them for stainless/titanium bolts?

Thanks for the advice :):beerjug:

Gee thanks Al :)

At work, so it's easier to ask on here than make a personal call for all to hear.
I would have thought the purpose was obvious, as the originals appear to be made of butter (or I'm stronger than I look).

But it's a Torx fastener. Did you use the wrong size bit in it? As for stainless, I think they are some grade of stainless in the first place. They're not cad plated monkey metal like your typical Japanese fastener.

I don't think so? I admit I didn't try the next size up though :)

I see motorworks has them, I'll order from them.

Thanks all.

Front and rear pads can be changed by simply removing the securing pins. Done mine yesterday to clean and check wear.

Just for info. 6000 miles and front and rear have approximately 1mm of wear each. Should easily reach 12000 miles before change required.

Motoworks sell these, I ordered some and they arrived extremely quickly.

I have had the bolts out several times , no issues, it may be worth checking the correct torque setting and bit size,

Standard GS bolts will be high tensile where as aftermarket Stainless are not, so SS may not technically be an upgrade.:augie

Recently had an MOT done at my BMW dealer and commented that my rear spline may need lubing, thing being he said that the rear caliper mounting bolts and the top pivot bolt were 1 use only bolts and should be replaced if removed????

rear spline may need lubing... did he offer to do it for you?

Yes for a price obviously but I will do it myself, actually bought a new "boot" and pivot bolt just in case.....
