Got the gearbox out of my 1999 1150GS at the moment. Signs of oil weeping from the back of the crank so will replace the seal. Is there anything not in my Haynes that I need to know about this job?
Also how critical is it to replace flywheel and clutch bolts with new ones?
Thanks for the help, Rob.

Don't start the work without the necessary specialized tools, such as the seal forming tool (french model shown):

Thanks for that I assume the seal needs to be formed to prevent damage when installing. Is the drinks can the recognized tool?

Other than the "perrier" can are there any special tools or tips that anyone has used for getting the crankshaft innner and outer seals in properly.

this applies to some changeover 1100s 99 ish and might apply to early 1150s too!
I think that part of the crankcase venting system vents thru a breather located in the gap bewteen the oils seals....hard to spot because it is at the top of the hole out of sight unless you really hunker down! make sure seals are s:thumb paced to allow this to operate or watch the oil level glass blow out as you rev it after rebuild!
