Ordered a replacement rear boot as I found a small split at the bottom of the original right at the base...... I've read that silicone grease is a good idea to smear around the edge of the boot to get it into position ?

Does it have to be silicone grease, as I've got a fair bit of Castrol LM grease in a tub already :thumb

i just used some from a tube of grease i got from nippy normans , you know the one you get with the acf50 as a package. I think its just to seat the boot i believe.

I used Castrol lm on my front boot only so it has a seal against water it won't affect the rubber :)

Come to think of it I've got a little tub of red rubber grease that'll do the job :thumb
