I'm in the process of fitting a rear disk to my project Paralever. Got a knackered 1150 bevel box, stripped the inner cover and fitted it to a spare Paralever bevel box. All straight forward and easy so far.

Any body else done it? I'm curious about wheel alignment and could do with a few pointers. Phreaky Phil on Advrider did the same conversion. I've sent him an Email but haven't had anything back yet.

Cheers Neil. Thats a hell of a bike Chris has.

I'm keeping the Paralever swinging arm. I've had a reply from Phil, I need to replace an 1100 back wheel with a 20mm offset and will need a spacer to move the disk away from the final drive boot.

Should end up with this (picture courtesy of Cookie)

This is Phils bike and is what I'm aiming for.

Parts so far (1150 bevel box, rear caliper and master cylinder) have come to just under £70 but I do need a 2nd hand 1100/1150 wheel, disk and a re spoke on the wheel to allow for the offset. Hopefully should come in around the £200 - £250 mark. Which is £50 less than Sherlocks are trying to sell a manky Paralever wheel for :mmmm

"Disc", if you don't mind. :rob

We're not on ADVrider now,you know. ;)

Almost as bad as MMC talking about his "hack". :D

How's about............ fitting a K series rear paralever final drive, with the K series brake caliper and the K series rear disc which is mounted on the bevel crown wheel flange.....

Would save having to fit spacers and having the rear wheel rebuilt.

Which wheel would fit on that arrangement? If the disc is mounted on the bevel drive then wouldn't it foul the 1100 disc mounts?

I'm not sure, i was thinking aloud as i read what you're doing and threw some thoughts into the pot.

I suppose if it was as simple as that it would be a well known route to go down. :nenau

Nice to have something thrown into the pot :thumb2

I'm only doing this because it's getting harder to find decent Paralever wheels. I've just bought a good one for my Project bike only to find my PD's has a fair lip in it. A new wheels well over £600 and second hand ones are getting increasingly expensive. A cheap alternatives good.

I'd concur with that, Berthas rear brake feels like the ABS is kicking in like a good un :D

Watching this thread closely to see what you'll need to do to bertha when the time comes :thumb

have i got this right ive got a 1994 r80r with one front disc and drum rear brake which just about stops the bike ive also just bought a k1100 LT in bits with a early k100 non runner thrown in with the deal for not a lot of money as a bit of a winter project does that mean i can change the rear bevel drive from the k1100 to the r80r which would give me a rear disc brake and would i have to swop over the drive shaft as well ive already thought about swopping over the front end to give me twin discs iam not bothered about looks the r80r.s only really used in winter but i like the idea of better brakes

Just picked up a decent 1100 gs rear wheel with good tyre and disc for £135 including postage so I'm up to £205. I now need the wheel relacing with an offset, a spacer and to mount the master cylinder. All seems very easy and surprisingly hassle free. I'm waiting for the catch.

If your k bevel is a paralever then it should go in but your wheel will have an offset and you will need to mount a master cylinder.

But...

We don't really know and are just fumbling about at the minute.
