They can be a bugger to get out - especially the left one I think. You might want to see if any mates have access to a blind bearing puller cos it will make it a lot easier
So, as you all correctly surmised, it was the paralever bearings.
Removal was straightforward and the bearings were found caked in hardened grease. The fixed bearing had worn the pivot slightly, but I cleaned the bearings repacked them with grease and all was well when reassembled.
3000km of alpine passes later and nothing has fallen off.
Handling definitely improved too.
