Rear Free Play???

I know this has been asked in the final drive thread in the 'font of all wisdom' but I am still trying to establish whether I have a pivot bearing issue or a final drive bearing issue. I have done the 3-9 test and there is movement from the final drive at the rubber pivot point making the rear wheel move laterally when I do the same test at 12 - 6 there is slight movement but feel that from the lateral range. I am not sure how movement is normal!! If there anyone out there that can shed some light that would be great cheers

Sounds like the needle rollers in the final drive, this can often be adjusted up. If possible get someone to hold the rear brake on and see if there's any difference in the play. If not points towards the needle rollers. If play vanishes then possibly your final drive bearing is on the way out. A small amount of play is not unusual.
