Rear light problem

OK rear light failed on way to work 5am ... brake light worked fine.

I bought and fitted a new bulb... Still no light at rear and brake light works fine.

I have traced the rear sub-frame loom to the connector block and with the assitance of a mates circuit tester have established that all is as it should be. Near to the connector of the rear sub frame is a small fuse box containing 4 fuses they are all OK.

The only light switch ie that operates any lights are function as they should ie main and flashing full beam and indicators. Park light also works???

Any one got any suggestions.....

I recently had a similar bizzare problem on my 2002 Dakar. Brake light worked fine but no running light. I eventually found that the positive power supply to the bulb holder had ceased and I never found out why after spending too much time looking. In the end I just ran another positive supply cable to the bulb holder terminal and all was sorted. Not a very satisfactory/neat solution but as mine has done around 60,000 miles now, it was ok for me.

I'm not sure if that's any help
