I ordered an LED rear light to fit my 1989 BMW R100GS-Paris Dakar from John Olive in Australia (Adelaide?) and as my daughter and her family were spending a month with relatives in Sydney over Christmas, I asked him to send the light to them to save on the hefty postage, which he did.
I've just been out to fit it and..........it doesn't fit. It's beautifully made with 34 LEDs but it doesn't fit my rear light.

Have a look at these images taken from ADV. The alloy brackets and spacers keep the LED panel away from the light itself but come out about 10mm/12.5mm too far so that the lens won't fit on. Although it's marked 'R100GS' perhaps the R100GS rear light is deeper than the Paris Dakar one? Unless he can provide a better solution - and I've emailed him - cutting the alloy dowels off will allow the lens to fit against the light shell.
Is there a difference between the R100GS and R100GS-PD rear light?
Hi Paul, I am happy to help, please take some photos. I have fitted these to both R100GSPD and R100GS's has never taken more than -5-10 minutes, sold over 50 so far and yours is the first report of a problem.
