Rear Subframe Corrosion

Indeed, more education needed, same for the paintwork.
Been using pressure washers on all my GS's,Trail, enduro and Trials bikes with no ill effects for the last 25 years

Now using a commercial Karcher cold water one that goes up to 140bar and 8l/minute
It's fantastic and really works well
Far better than any of the B&Q offerings..............but it was £1400

Utter rubbish. So where is MY RUST?

So if the surface preparation is so poor from day one, before the paint is even applied. Why is my bike not rusting already?

In fact, over 7,500 miles now and no rust in sight. Not on the bolts, not on the paintwork, not anywhere? How do you explain that?

These are my riding conditions IN THE RAIN, FOG, MUD. So it's not a pampered dry day only bike.

So are you telling me my bike was built in a completely different factory to you lot? I've looked at and inspected my paint closely after all this bullshit on here and nothing wrong with it.

Pictures of my R1200 GSA on DAY TWO of ownership.

I get mine covered in crap all the time and the paintwork is still mint.... :nenau:blast

Pictures from my last inspection at 3,600 miles and the bike is still just like this now at 7,500 miles

Going through winter won't make any difference except salt exposure.

Well....???

Blimey

You ok fella?

I'm glad your bike's one of the good ones.

I've seen enough WC's in the flesh (and on here) to know that MBW have had a QC problem on paint finishes. I'm not quite sure why you're being so defensive about it TBH

Yeah I'm good mate.

Just putting my side of the discussion forward with facts and images, and won't be beaten down by a load of old bollocks being spouted.

Thought it was quite clear, informative and accurate actually. You know, how facts are supposed to be presented. Not just hearsay, speculation or guesswork and blind accusations.

Happy to continue with this in the life of my GSA, as others might be spared the grief of a rotting bike if they learn something from it all.

So if you have anything else to support your load of old tosh, be my guest :thumb

Knock yer self out.

As long as your happy that's all that matters.

Is that it.... you're out?

What evidence do you have of poor paint preparation from the factories and rust already coming through from 0 mile showroom bikes? What?

One Bike? Two Bikes? How many?

Over what period?

Andres is right, my RT WC was shocking and it had over 8k if warranty work, mostly due to poor factory prep with paint lifting from the FD and many other areas.

It’s not all about slapping extra protective fluids on if the initial prep is bad.

You painted your own centre stand, almost from new. You should NOT have to do that on a 17k bike. You can defend it all you want but it should not happen. I’ve had 2 bouts of paint related issues, one GS LC, one RT LC.

Sorry, but only a feckin idiot would think that.

So if I go and buy a £90,000 Porsche and drive it up the motorway sat on the arse of every car in front to get out the way.

By the time I got it home, the bonnet would have stone chips on it.

So I take it back to Porsche and say "your paint is shit, I want a respray as it should be able to cope with stones at 190mph"... WTF??

The centre stand is directly in line with the front wheel, on an adventure bike designed to go off road. So gravel, grit and stones are going to pound it every mile you ride. It's not structural damage, it doesn't impact on the design and purpose, it's just stone-chips.

Give it a lick of paint every now and then to keep it protected is the normal, maintenance thing to do. What do you expect?

Are you nuts? :D

My 31 year old K100 lives outside used all year round, hasn't been washed for oooh, since ive owned it, so seven years at least. No rusty metalwork and aluminum is still in first class condition. The old air cooled frames were under coated with a lime green paint that kept all corrosion at bay.

Hang on.... I've got it.

Most BMW GSA owners are whining, spoon fed, privileged, demanding, whining... did I mention that...., spoilt, erm... brats

That's it... brats. :comfort

Buy a World Class Adventure Bike and complain because the paint is rusty, followed by a tantrum like someone stole your marmalade and toast.... FFS :blast

Right, I want everyone to grow up, look after your shit, and be responsible for yourself. Ok?

Oh do stop being a knob, I’m just stating that from the factory it should have some paint on.

I know how take care of my gear and my bikes, now fuck off and get back on with weaponising your bike and taking shite videos with your angle of dangle showing, I’ll just carry on riding mine.

Is it about now you remind us you paid for your GSA cash money, your own money?

What a judgemental prick, if someone’s paid their money for any goods and they are substandard they are entitled to complain (to the dealer and BMW) about it.

You pretty much fit the stereo type you are describing.

Been regularly using my commercial pressure washer on my bikes for years. No problems at all, just clean bikes with no corrosion.
