I carry a fair amount of weight in my top box. I seem to recall you could purchase a strengthening metal bracket?
Any ideas or have one to sell me
Thanks

I don't know which top box support you need for the box you're looking at, but I've fitted the sw-motech support and the Givi SRA 5112 top plate with the standard rear carrier on my 1250GS and it all fits together nicely. If I remember correctly, I did have to get some slightly longer screws than were supplied with either of the units.
Any chance you could post a piccy of how it all fits together please?
Somebody asking a similar question on here regarding the strengthening bracket etc etc.
Thanks
I don't have access to the bike until after 8 July, but I'll try and do so then, if you don't mind waiting that long. I downloaded the fitting instructions from the Givi and SW Motech sites before I bought the kit and worked out how to fit them all together. I made myself some sketches so I'll try to post them as well. It wasn't at all difficult.

Ive just fitted a SRA5108 plate to my bike. It will have a V47 Givi topbox on it. Do i require this bracket too ? Geeezzzzuuusssss how much more dosh do i have to throw at this bloody bike ?????![]()
If you are only putting no more than the 5kgs in weight, you will be fine, seems the Op,s put a tad more in their boxes...
Hi Db. When I purchased the SRA5108 (not SRA5112 as I mistakenly identified in my post above) there was a warning on the Givi website (and also on other seller's sites) stating the maximum safe load is 6kg! This seemed ridiculously low to me so I contacted Givi UK who confirmed to me by email that the 6kg limit refers to the safe maximum load that can be carried in any top box fitted to the SRA5108. This is still ridiculously low, but that's what Givi say. It does mean that the safe maximum load of the plate itself is actually about 12kg; ie 6kg contents plus about 6 kg for the weight of a top box. I don't think SW- Motech make any statement about what the safe maximum load will be when their reinforcement support is fitted, but I felt that I could afford the extra cost of £30 or thereabouts to give a little extra strength, albeit unquantified. I don't think it can be very much of an improvement because it is bolted to the bike with only the same two bolts that fix the original carrier.
PS I'm loving my 1250GS TE Exclusive as well.
Ive bought one ! "just in case"
