Hi people has anyone had trouble with the wheel-disc carrier on a 1200 gs ?.mine had about 4mm of movement at the rim when i went to my local dealer i was informed that the full dif assembly needed to be replaced ????.at a cost of £880 + labour.when i asked why i was told you cant buy the carrier seperately (this is a lie),and the splines are worn on the dif (not true).the carrier is made of an alloy so i softer than the steel splines on the dif.i asked BMW UK if the would like to offer any goodwill and replace the part as the bike has only done 24000 miles the answer was no because of the age of the bike i asked them if bmw,s now wear standing still they didnt want to comment on that.the dealer in question is astles in grimsby who now have lost my custom after over 11 years of buying bikes and serving from them.anyway new parts fited at work last night now as good as new

I replaced this item on my previous 1200 due to cracking on the lugs that the disk is bolted to. A doddle to change and about £100 odd for the part.

Changed mine due slight play, job perfect, definitely do this and then check if ok. Carrier is held onto output shaft by massive c-ring which is held in place under the wheel hub so nothing can let go that easily.
