Just arrived at Woollaston BMW for the 6k service and they said there was an official recall announced in the week for a plate to be fitted to the gearbox output shaft. I assume it's for the oil seal issue previously reported.

Yes I read where the plate is to stop the seal being forced out and thus putting oil on the rear tyre

Is that for all WC GS,S?
I was in my local dealer yeaterday and nothing was mentioned?

Mite be a daft question but should I be expecting a call from the dealer?
My bike is right in the middle of that manufacturing period.

Here in Germany, I got a letter direct from BMW, but by that time my dealer had already told me that he would be doing it at the next service (later that week). I believe it was a new ring to hold the seal in place. Done at the same time as the clutch slave cylinder replacement. Took about one and a half hours from arriving at the dealer. i.e. 3 cups of their nice latte macchiato!!

No good to me I'm in the black forest! !

Gearbox Output Shaft Seal - Recall
My recall letter arrived today and is dated 2nd Dec 2014.

The problem is the seal could work loose under high oil pressure over a sustained period. The fix involves fitting a retainer and takes approx 20 minutes.

My bike early 2013 last four digits of vin 3270

If anyone owns PK13 KKT, then I keep getting your recall letter in the post!

What am I missing here?

Got my letter dated 2 Dec 2014.
The DfT VOSA Notice (link above) is dated 13 June 2014.
The US article is dated 21 May 2014.

What have BMW been doing for the last 6 months?
