WHERE ARE MY FECKIN STICKERS???[/SIZE]

My bike must be one of the 108.299 in question being an 06 and I can`t believe I`ve managed 35,000 miles without going ass over tit because the lever has twisted round. It`s obviously nothing but a deathtrap and I`m not going to ride it again until my warning stickers come because that will make it go away so where the feck are they?????

FFS Nemeziz, it`s a good thing that you`ve pointed out there is an issue here but is there any need to keep banging on about it? It`s nothing that all GS owners don`t know about and can`t solve. To be honest, you are making yourself look like a complete cnut.

yeah. a nutbag, moron, german, whatever! :ronno

but this sticker-story is going on air, believe me! :thedummy

And I thought it was only the UK that was inflicted by moaners with overhyped stories on Watchdog and You and Yours. But it appears the Germans do too.

The Germans do have at least the accidents (three are confirmed) and at least one serious injured rider. He stayed one week in hospital.

The only thing that is confirmed is your obsessive campaign against BMW. You are obviously bitterly disappointed that your crusade against the servo brakes came to nothing (despite the mountain of evidence that you claimed to have but were never able to produce it when it mattered) and now you pick up on the handguards.

You must be getting desperate.

I have taken preventative measures to avoid my GS handguards from obscurring the controls, i have ripped them clear of their mountings alltogether, smashed them into tiny shards with a 5lb lump hammer...no more hand guards...no more reading 3 pages of utter tat on the subject:clap

LOL :blast

These power assisted Integral-Brakes (FTE automotive) are defective, flawed crap that is dangerous.

In may 2008 FTE automotive did shut down the 2-wheel division. Guess why. :augie

Is that what the German prosecutor thought? Or is that your usual ramblings on the subject?

Well that`s OK then:rolleyes:. 3 accidents which may or may not have been caused by the hanguards which may or may not have moved. Case proven.

FFS, any rider who has an accident and blames his handguards shouldn`t be allowed out on his own and anyone who thinks we should all rally round and attack the manufacturer shouldn`t be either.

Nemezis, don`t all these negative responses lead to believe we really don`t give a flying feck about the handguards despite what you and the obviously crackpot TUV think? After all, neither have any influence with us here in blighty:D

You don`t work for those mad Austrians do you:eek:?

These are the flawed handguards that are crap and have been the reason for locking brakes and serveral accidents and seriously injured riders:

Nemezis,I think you have to accept that the general opinion on this site, and certainly my own opinion,is that basically these moving hand guards are merely part of the routine checks that need to be done by a responsible rider in the same vane as adjusting mirrors, checking brake fluid, tyre pressures etc.
You say repeatedly that you feel that the ABS brakes are a "Nanny"item but it seems to me that you want BMW to totally nanny owners as regards any rider maintainance input what so ever.
If these guards suddenly and without warning were to swing down and violently apply the brakes then all well and good I could understand your concerns but they simply do not. They do however gradually move and in some cases contact with the brake and/or clutch lever,as I have said before on this thread this is observeable whilst riding and is also able to be remedied also whilst riding if the rider is confident enough.
Prehaps if the riders who have had the missfortune to come to grief over an issue with the handguards/brake levers had taken a little time to walk around their machine checking the simple things like the illumination of all lights they may have noticed that their brake lights were illumnated and may be investigated. So may be the bulb fillament had blown, well same again had they then checked the operation of the hand and foot brake the lack of illumination would have become apparent,a new bulb fitted(Do you have to carry spare bulbs in Deutschland?)and then the constant illumination spotted.
Either way I strongly feel, and I believe others do too, that this is a poor maintainance issue on the part of the owner.
Nemezis,Please, please put this to bed now you have made a grand effort but the bottom line is,sad to say rider error. No fallouts,no hard feelings :beerjug:.....................

Oh well better luck next time:D

now closed.

Bleedin' 'eck Nemezis, do you mean to say that you don't take your hand guards off when off-roading your GS?

You mad, impetuous fool :clap

you don't take your hand guards off when off-roading your GS?

When I joined the official BMW offroad training in "BMW Enduropark Hechlingen" / Germany in summer 2004 the BMW R1200GS they gave me did not have handguards mounted, too. None of the Beemers there was equipped with handguards, not even the R1150GS Adv. that were used by the instructors!

Any guess? Because it's very different if you look at KTM offroad trainings. So what are handguards on GS-models for?

Quick nurse, the thread lock!

Quickly nurse!

It`s too late, he`s escaped the asylum and bypassed the alarm system:eek:

I`ll get a full status report prepared and meantime, I`ll get the dogs out.

Hang on though, better get his muzzle off in case it bends and chokes him:augie

The OEM handguards on BM's are plastic, not really for preventing breaks to the levers but more for weather protection. If you're working hard or are in a warm environment, not having hand guards can be a good thing. Also, when you're instructing, it helps if you can see the students hands - to check they're holding the levers in the correct manner.

Also, the levers don't break that often and, without the handguard in the way, is a pretty quick and easy fix even if you do break one. At the BM school in Wales, all the instructor bikes carry two spare levers for just this reason.
