Proof................
One way or another.......... BMW has dropped the inclusion of Integral Servo Assisted ABS across its model range

That's hardly conclusive proof though Johnny.

Or maybe the new system is cheaper than the old one.
No, but something had to give and maybe all the legal stuff he reported on from the Fatherland did it................although he wasn't the instigator

The letter says failiure occurs in extreme conditions??? What does this mean?
- off road, hot/cold weather, emergency breaking from say 100mph!!!
Well if my brakes failed I would describe the conditions as extreme however/wherever I was riding
All he has done is bring details of a recall to our notice. He has certainly not been proven right on his earlier "crusade".
I see. I tend to think that the recall and the fact that servo assist has been withdrawn probably indicates that there was a problem. But each of us can believe what we like![]()
My point was that this guy has suffered some pretty nasty abuse on this forum for simply bringing such news/developments to our attention and I don't think he deserved it. I think the latest developments swing the balance more in his favour than those who seem reluctant to believe that there was anything intrinsically wrong with the system.![]()

So lets not cloud the issue by bring up servo brakes/ residual braking performance again eh?

...this is regarding the possible brake fault, not the handguards.
........
.......The next recall is about the handguards. At this time BMW blocked any order of the old handguards and any part that is related with these old handguards. There are rumours at several dealers (in Germany) that the recall should take place in the end of April (but nobody knows for sure, and nobody knows about the solution.
Fact is: The new handguards on 2008 models are totally different and cannot cause any of the known problems whicht the flawed ones did. This is a picture of the 2008 handguards:

At this time it doesn't seem that it is possible that the new 2008 handguards do fit on the old bikes. However, there will be a solution. Possibly at the end of the month. Any information from the German safety authorieties in this issue is blocked, too.
