Hi all

Could anybody here recommend an external hard drive 1TB, firewire, to use for storage of photos off the Mac and HD video from my PC laptop? could do with a reliable drive to transport between work and home.

Thanks in advance:thumb2

firewire ext HDDs seem few and far between. had a freecom FW drive but it died just out of warranty. got a Samsung Story USB drive now.

I did notice there aren't many about, but i'm just hoping someone can recommend one that is a good un :nenau

western digital used to do one that had firewire, appears to have been recently discontinued, it was my first choice, but was fairly pricey.

can't say i notice any speed issues with any of my 3 USB drives, so i'm not fussed about firewire any more. i don't stream video from them though.

Go take a look in tesco, got my last 3 external drives from there, last one was a 1TB drive and not expensive. One is a Seagate 0.75TB and came with backup software cost about £55ish

I've used the Lacie Rugged one (orange surround) and it's been fine - even when bouncing around inside a pannier for days on end.

They don't do a 1TB version though...

Nice because it doesn't need a separate power supply - it draws what it needs from the PC.
