Many years ago in a place far far away, Gus Kuhn Motors Ltd in the Clapham Road SW9 actually I bought for the princely sum of £32.50 a Boyer-Bransden Transistor Ignition (Mk 3)
Yes I've still got the box and the instructions...
Anyway the instructions say it needs timing with a strobe timing light so I got one of these...
I think it may have been called a hawk or hawker timing light and as I remember I had very little luck with it then, well its been languishing in the bottom of my tool box for getting on for 30 years and I tried it again last night as Rob Farmer no less said at this years Wee-Kend that the timing on my old R80/7 may need checking. Even picking the S.....
and F....
timing marks out with white paint, and doing it with the lights out
I'm still finding it very difficult to see them with the engine running
so just wondered if anyone could recommend me a good strobe timing light.
This is how the Boyer-Bransden system looks in place....
