warm nights

as per rocks comments, if you want one made in UK have a look at here http://www.mountaineering-designs.co.uk/

Down bags are warmest and pack smaller than synthetic bags but useless if they get wet. I also agree with the comment get the best/warmest you can afford its better than ruining a trip

Also ensure you have a decent down mattress thing underneath, check in bargains forum for a post I put on there for the 9cm Exped

I've got a Berghaus glacier down sleeping bag -20

RRP was £300 ish pound .

But thanks to a certain Mod with a contact in the right place :thumb , £100.

No trouble at 6K feet last november , while quite a few shivered .

Remember, it's easier to cool down than it is to warm up.

Who is that masked Mod ?

if he's reading this he can pm me

Modman has been informed -

He got mine early last year, but he will see what he can do.

Got me a new bag today, went for a Snugpak Harrier from the millitary range so hopefully I'll be toasty warm this year. Thats a new Coleman Quartz tent, Exped and sleeping bag so I'm all set up with good gear now for the next few years :thumb2

been looking for ages and have come to the conclusion that I want the Mountain Equipment Dreamcatcher 500. it has the stretch section for the knees so you have a lot more room - so they say. Has anyone any experience with this bag?

Try www.planetoutdoor.co.uk there are lots of bags to choose from but look at the light 150 or 200, they pack smaller than the adventure range and perform pretty well. The prices are best if you join as a member which is normally £5 but if you enter planetFREE in the promo code box on the join page you'll get it free. With the £3 postage you will still get a good bag under £25 delivered.

Having shivered me knuts off at Lands end (I think +4 degrees) in my mountain Equipment Firewalker UL, liner and thermal underwear I think I'm going to invest in a replacement one and consigne the old one to file 13.

Berghaus glacier down sleeping bag -20

Any chance we can get a deal on the above?

Yip what he said.... Novice bought the other one... he was going to sell it... but i can't remember if he did or not.... PM him and ask;)

I sold it quite quickly as I realised I am unlikely to go camping in anywhere near zero degrees let alone minus :D

It was a great bargain and a fella in Scotland (I think) got a great deal.

cats meow from northface bought at snow and rock £60 special offer brilliant! silk liner from katmandu outdoors special offer £15 and gortex outer shell bivi ebay £20

best bits of kit ever warm as toast, dry and all that

Only snag need to get a new bag cos bivi bag and sleeping bag have zippers on opposing sides :blast means you need extra arm with 2 elbows:blast :blast

I used my new Snugpak Millitary Harrier with Exped mattress last weekend ... bloody brilliant.

Spend the money on a decent down bag. They pack tiny and are miles warmer than a synthetic one for a given size. As you're spending a third of your holiday sleeping it makes sense. Especially if you only spend a fifth of your holiday sleeping 'cos you're too bleedin' freezing to sleep'....
