Recommend me a bike mounted camera

My set up and works very well. Vid Cam is about £50. It does loop recording and has the time/date on it. Good quality recordings as well which can be viewed via its own little colour screen. All recordings go onto a micro SD card, so easy to view on your PC/tablet/phone. Loads of accessories come with it. Mount is nice quality from King biker. I paid less for the mount by buying through eBay.

Innovv C3. Dual HD 1080p. Snake bullet cams. Hard wired to power ignition. Loop recording. 2 years, no issues. Totally discrete, no one ever notices them.

So, who was at fault?

Overtaking an Overtaker:blast

3 abreast???:D

Yep, similar to that, except you could tell by the red cars road positioning very early on in that video that he was going to overtake.

The car I overtook was well over to the left, and made his move when I was alongside the drivers door. There really was no way of knowing he was going to pull out, until it was too late. When we stopped, he had music playing at maximum volume (you'd have to be deaf to not hear the XR coming), and he was genuinely shocked at what had happened. He started blaming me, then soon backed down, when he realised what he'd done.

He didn't want my details, but gave me his. As the cost of a new handguard is £23.70, I haven't bothered to get back in touch with him.

The Innov looks like a great camera. I'll investigate further.:thumb

Been using an Innovv C3 for a couple of years, snake cam above headlight but below screen ( DIY tobinators leave a gap), camera not noticeable.
Fitted a 22mm domed watch glass over the lens so it sheds water quickly.
The little recording unit takes a 32GB micro SD card on a 5 hour loop have it set to 10 minute sessions. after 5 hours starts recording over first session.
connect to a PC via usb cable easy to use software to make initial setup.
comes on with the ignition and shuts down with the can bus, about 1 minute after ignition is switched off.
I have a length of fiber optic from the led on the recording head to the bike dash, not necessary but just shows the recording functions.
When deer are less than 1 second in front of you they only show up as a blur !!! :yikes

How does the C3 wire to the bike? There's 2 versions on EBay, a battery supply and a super capacitor supply

There's no difference as such but I'd go for the cap version as that won't wear out like the battery.

Well over to the left ahhh... Sounds like the old Scandinavian flick overtake, suprised you missed something so obvious. Money would be better spent on training as I'm not sure how the camera would have saved you.

Unless you intend to re watch your riding and your mistakes :D

Would you like me to tell you what you missed

Piss orf :pullface:D

OK As you asked so nicely, this is what you missed...

When did you observe that the driver you were about to overtake had clocked you in his mirror?

Drivers that pull out without looking can do this because they assume they are the fastest on the road, did you you observe them for a while or did you arrive out of the blue and go straight for the overtake.

Aside from being well left what else did you observe.

If you had a camera we could watch it together and see what you missed :D

Make sure you mount camera fore and left...else it'll just be grass verge fast approaching we see....

I didn't ask.:blast

Believe me, I've gone over it several hundred times since it happened, and there were no signs of what he was going to do. I followed for a while, then overtook him. I've learnt how to read drivers/ vehicle body language over the years, and I can safely say that even you as a riding god wouldn't have been able to tell he was going to pull out.:P

The other thing I observed was that it may have been deliberate, as he seemed to be very "anti" bikes, and one of those nimby sorts (all bikes are cnuts, all bikers speed, all bikers deserve what they get :blagblah) but there was no way of proving that. The fact that he didn't want my details, even though his car suffered some damage goes to prove that he knew who was at fault.

Anyway, this isn't a thread analyzing what happened; if I wanted that, I'd have started a different thread.

So, back to the OP, does anyone have any other camera recommendations?

The camera I have on my bike gives a great picture, but it does cost me a lot in food...
