Recommend me a few days routes please

Hi Pinky.

A route I done last week which brought a BIG smile to my face along with a mate on a FJR 1300 was:

Starting at Pitlochry High St. take the A924 to Bridge of Cally (this is beautiful with lots of twists and turns on brand new tarmac that looks like it was just resurfaced).

From Bridge of Cally turn left and head to Braemar on the A93 passing through Glenshee. Once in Braemar The Hungry Highlander cafe makes great coffee and has a visor wash for bikers next to the toilets.

From here continue on the A93 through the Balmoral estate towards Ballater. About a mile before Ballater turn left up the hill on the A939 and head to Corgarff. There is another bike friendly cafe here on the right that serves excellent ice cream!!

From here continue on the A939 Lecht Road to Tomintoul and through the Bridge of Broon up to Granton on Spey.

This road is so good you WILL want to do it again in the opposite direction.

If you or your mates don't think this is in your top ten ever, I will ride out to meet you and present you with a fully trained guide dog, as you would have to be blind not to appreciate this ride.

re the above route.......... don't go all the way to Bridge of Cally, turn left at Kirkmichael, just after the Strathardle Inn, and cut the corner. It's a better route and saves miles of shite. Strathardle Inn good for grub too.
 
From St. Fillans you gotta go west! Run along Loch Earn, Lix Toll, Crianlarich Tyndrum(avoiding the World famous Green Welly if you can... go instead to the Real Food cafe opposite....far better), on to Fort William, dine in the Lochy Inn. (G.C. from here), up to Spean Bridge, over to Dalwhinnie (sparkling road) down A9, avoiding cameras at Blair Atholl left at Dunkeld onto A822, Sma' Glen, Crieff home for a dram. Good day out.
 
I live along the road and my favourite routes are -

Crainlarich - Oban -Out to Easdale on Seal Island (avoid this bit just now if you dont like loose chippings) then Lochgilphead- Inveraray then back up Loch Lomond to Crainlarich .


Crainlarich - Glen Coe -Ballachulish then take the Corran Ferry at Inchree, head for Strontian ( you could then go to Ardnamurchan Point ) up to Lochailort, out to Mallaig for fish and chips at the Seamans mission then back via Fort William.



for a short run-

Just after Killin take the road to Kenknock/ Loch Lyon , through the gates and along Glen Lyon to Bridge of Balgie Cafe - Fortingall - Kenmore then back over the Glen Quaich road to Amulree then back to Crieff.


The last two routes have large sections of really twisty single track that are great on my G650GS and I can leave my mate on his Blackbird miles behind but if your friends are on sportsbikes they might not be too happy.

Been up the west coast a few times and once past Loch Lomond the roads just seem to get better and better. And another :thumb2 for the Real Food Cafe.

Is the Strathardle Inn open again?
 
Cant agree more on the roads. Went up to Oban (1st stop:beer:) on Thursday, took the coastal route to Ullapool (2nd stop:beer:) and then the mostly coastal route to Pitlochry (3rd stop:beer:) via Durness, Thurso, John of Groats, Wick and Inverness before home to Chester le Street. Must say the road to Applecross is good but they just keep getting better the higher up you go. Bloody windy coming back though. Total milage 1038.
 
No, The Blackwater Inn, and The Dalrulzion Hotel, each way from Blackloonies both done for. Blackwater Inn needs a box of matches!!

Couldn't agree more about the Blackwater Inn and the Dalrulzion is going the same way, shame really they were good for a pint and a bar meal!!

Done this a couple of weeks ago Rannoch Moor and Glencoe blessed with a bit of sun and looked bloody brilliant!!
