After getting through a couple of cheap Karchers, I bought a Stihl RE108, which I thought would last. It's been back for repair once under warranty, but is now out and has packed in again. I'm thinking of one of the nilfisk range, any other ideas?

It's used for washing my bikes and cars including dirt bikes, and the occasional bit of brick work cleaning.

I have a Lavor and recommend these, they also manufacture Wickes own brand - which is good.

I too have a Lavor and it's excellent!

Beware of karcher bought from large chains such as B&Q or home base, they're visually identical but with inferior built to price components.

Whatever you buy, try to go for something with a brass pump head ..... It'll run and run!

I'm genuinely surprised at this. I have a Lavor Cobra Special which I've almost written off as a useless piece of junk. I think a 90 year old with BPH could probably produce a higher pressure flow than my washer.... :nenau

Not working properly???

My Karcher is over 15years old and is faultless. My mate nextdoor has been through 3 new karchers in nearly as many months all with electrical problems. I'm hearing the nilfisk ones seem to be the one to beat at the moment by people

Buy commercial grade, from a specialist supplier and expect to pay £200-£300

My KEW cost £300, £15 years ago and has been first class
