Recommend me.....

Dainese Fulcrum

Not used any yet as my Frank Thomas boots are soon due for replacement but have tried on a pair of Fulcrom boots - goretex and like wearing a pair of slippers.
Others I have tried on have been a little stiff and bulky.

Hein Gericke Rallye GTX II ... mine have done 9k miles since Sept 08 and I've been chuffed to bits with them. I think the styling is a bit marmite (love it/hate it) but I've used them winter and summer and my feet have stayed bone dry in all weathers (Goretex). Soles and upper have worn well and I like the additional protection given by their height. No zips, just a large velcro tab at the top and three ratchet clips. Fit nicely under Textiles and go over leather trousers too.

Thanks Andy, but from reading Schtum's post it looks like they're the same boot as the Santiago which I've already tried and found not to be the right fit for me but I'll take a look while I'm in HG this weekend.

Another vote for these. I have had mine for more years than I can remember , somewhere between 7 and 10 to be sure. At 24K miles a year they have knocked up over 168,000 miles, and teher is no sign of needing replacement

I had the soles replaced by Daytona 2 years ago, apart from that they have never needed attention apart from cleaning. Comfortable off the bike, wore them for a few days at Glast08, and they scrub up fine. The ankle is adjustable for various sizes, so may fit where it sounds like others are inflexible.

The only apparent leak I have had in them was a result of leaking spray coming up the the ankle of boot then pentertating from the top down, due to worn velcro on my trouses.

There are other boots just as good, and probably even better; but, due to the long life and perfect record of my Daytonas, I have had no reason to find out what they might be :aidan

These Daytona's seem to be finding their way to the top of the pile. We'll see if they fit on saturday.

FWIW, I found that the HG Rallye boots were too tight on my calves but I can fit into the TCX Infinity boots, so long as I don't have anything more than a pair of socks and some long johns tucked inside them.

Thanks for that, I may take a look.

Dellis,

If you have found a brand that fit your feet then there is no harm in sticking with that brand.
I find I can wear German (Daytona) or British (?) Frank Thomas boots and I definitely cannot wear BMW boots made in Italy (I don't even bother trying them on).

Gloves seem to another case in point!

There is far less give in leather gloves or boots than textile gear and everybody's feet are different and sensitive.

Well I happened to knock off a bit earlier than expected today, went over to Charlie Williams at Chester and am now the proud owner of a pair of Daytona Road Star GTXs. Fit like a glove, loads of adjustment for my generous calves and they are really well made. So thanks for the input especially the pointer towards the Daytonas.

Had a short ride wearing my new boots last weekend but this weekend have given them a proper test, 500 miles in all weathers riding in the Dales and Lakes. So far so good :) They were comfy, warm and waterproof but I'll let you know if there were worth the £280 I paid for them in a few years time.
