I opted for a 2 piece oversuit. Same idea, but trousers and top separate. They still fit into a large bum bag, and don't seem to take up any more space.
However I have found the following benefits to separates.
- easier to put on over wet leathers, and as there is more freedom of movement there is less chance of getting stuck half in / half out of the suit
- you can use the top without the trousers - which I find useful in the early mornings / late evenings when wearing a mesh jacket. So it keeps me warmer / more comfortable
- easier to get the right size. Jacket can be one size, trousers another, and so there is less compromise for those of us who are not a standard size, (long legs, short arms etc)
- if trousers leak, get a new pair, rather than buying a complete suit
- seem to last longer than the one piece (i.e. crotch leakage)- which I put down to the fact that it is easier to get in and out of (less stress on the seams).
Couldn't agree more with all that is said. Far more flexible in terms of use - you also get some air ventilation between the two halves, don't risk suffering groin constriction problems and there is less strain on the lower half so it is less likely to leak. HG two piece suits are simple, but very good - I don't know if you can still get them anywhere in the UK.
