Recommended engine oil

Hi

I am doing some research on best oil for my bikes. I have a 2018 Adventure Rallye and a 2018 GS exclusive.

I am interested on your opinions regarding best alternative oil other than sourcing from BMW dealer. I don't have a problem using dealer oil other than the exorbitant price they are charging for it.

I know people will say don't cheap out on the oil for what were expensive bikes and to be honest I agree with that thinking but BMW dealers are just having a laugh with their prices.

After service at BMW this year going to do servicing myself. There just seem to be so many opinions as best alternative oil to BMW own brand.

Why not get some oil of the same spec? Castrol Shell or some other well known brand. JJH

I recommend whatever the dealer puts in. It's reassuringly expensive.

Halfords own 5 40 £36 for five ltrs. Never had a problem using this.
