I am having a bit a a run of bad luck lately
todays problem is;

when recording music - either copy disc or from libray on machine
when the CD has been burned it plays the first 10 or 12 track OK then the next few are 'jumpy' and seems to have bits 'missing'
Take same disc to another player, same thing but not as noticeable.
Re play on PC again, less noticeable but still there.
The machine is only a few moths old, and previously i am told by her who knows best that it has worked without issues.
I have deleted the software (Roxio) and re-instaled, no difference
Have run the check at the start of windows by pressing F12 on star up and the diagnosics has checked the CD/DVD drive as functioning OK

The stuff i am putting onto the CD is well within the limi of the CD
Yes its under warranty but would like to understand why this is happening
any suggestions please

Probably the CD 'Burner' is shot, though it just may be the software. I used to use Roxio stuff some years back on a W98SE system, but as soon as I upgraded to XP it gave all sorts of bother even with updated drivers. Eventually I binned it and got Nero 6.3 from Ebuyer, where an OE disk was only about a tenner. Never had a moment's problem since.

P.S. only mentioned Ebuyer 'cos that's where I found it on a quick look, but it's prob available cheaper elsewhere :)

Buffer overun???

Try burning one again but turn everything else running on the pc off, and make sure to tick the 'validate data' type box (depending on what software you're using)

Also turn down the burn speed to x2 or x4.

Hmm actually disregard that...if you can play it on a different machine and access more data (you said it was 'less noticeable') that means the data is on the CD at least.......

Verify that....compare the exact size of a track on the disc with its source....if they're identical, the data is there.......

On reflection I think you may just have a duff batch of cd's....try another brand maybe....some are better than others in different machines :nenau

2 or 4 times is very slow for a cd unless you have a really really old PC

i would have thought 12 times would have been slow enough on most pc's

are you starting up other programs while burning.... this might cause glitches too

new writers are very cheap now
