Flew down to LHR yesterday, hopped a bus from T5 and picked this up. I don't normally name my bikes but this seemed apt. :D 1988, 28k miles, an enormous pile of paperwork, manual, original lock in the top frame tube, tool kit etc.

6.5 hrs driving time later, I was home. A companion for the GS. :thumb2

Dontcha just love the RS fairing? The bike was humming along in its element and the occasional smirr of rain left its mark ...

Not wild about the colour of the tappet covers but that's easily fixed. :thumb2

They look like original Lester Wheels - but I'd need a close up - any markings?

never seen Red Rocker Box covers before!!

They're not Lesters. BMW's own, I believe. The covers were done by the PO. Not my taste but easily fixed.

Mono Shock wheels painted black and the edges buffed up

I thought you were running it like I am with mine, until I looked closer and seen the satin / matt black lowers

Health to ride

Fantastic, I bet you enjoyed the return journey.

6.5 hours - enough to get to know a bike a bit!

Great stuff, enjoy!

Cheers Paul! Phil included a pile of stuff in panniers and tank bag. I reckon I could have fixed almost anything but not needed!

And thanks again for your help in checking the bike out.

Looks a good low mileage solid bike.:thumb2 But I'm not keen on the red rocker covers.
In fact they're shite, get rid of em.:rob

Happy new bike.:beerjug:

I’ll be swapping em for t covers on the GS pro tem, Stu. Main job for this autumn is doing a refurb on the GS frame which is starting to look like the Forth Bridge after a painters’ strike!

Hmmmm, nice one Peter.

I look forward to seeing it ;).

(None of my bikes have been out this year :blast).

Bob.

Love the bike Pete, paint / valve covers not so sure, but easily sorted if you wish, used to have a R100CS with RS Fairing fitted, would buy it back if I could in a heartbeat did 150K miles on it over 10 years

Thanks Mark. Yep, the covers will revert to oem and possibly a tank cover as the tank has an odd diamond pattern on top only. I suspect a by product of the mag tank bag. Meanwhile, I had a look in the seat hump ...

There we go. On one side anyway! Swapped one from the GS. Oddly enough, it looks OK with a red head! Hmmm? Maybe a red seat to go with it? :D
