hey all;

just changed the engine oil, gearbox oil, fixed the servo brakes (eventually!)and wired some accessories directly to the battery (optimate fly lead and heated clothing socket, neither of which i have used yet). now have red triangle of death with no other warning lights. bike works perfectly nevertheless. especially my fixed brakes :) RTOD only comes on after a few miles, tends to go off again if you turn the bike off and on again, for a few miles anyway. then comes back. took bike in to garage-diagnostics showed front abs sensor fault they said-told me they cleaned it, cleared fault codes and all was well. except RTOD came back again within a few minutes.

my bike works perfectly. can i just ignore this warning and think of it more as a red triangle of fluffy-everything-is-ok-ness? or should i invest in a new abs sensor to see if that solves the problem? have seen lots of other posts with this problem, but no actual solution so any help appreciated. is there any way i can check whether the abs sensor is at fault without forking out for a new one?

cheers

problems

I have an extra socket up front near the dash directly wired to the battery for my satnav, on my recent holiday if I left the satnav pluggged in for any length of time after turning the bike off ( says 15-20mins or more), when I went to start off the red triangle would come on and I would have no servo assistance on my brakes, stopped the bike, switched off unplugged the power lead to the satnav and started again , all was well, seems my canbus did not like the satnav on taking power from the bike without the engine running ( worked fine all the other times), perhaps you could try disconnecting your mods and see if you rtod goes away, you may have some idea then what the problem is, mine is an 04 by the way

I had the red triangle recently, which only came on after a run, took it to my local privateer and put the laptop diagnoses on the bike, which showed faulty rear brake switch. Changed and has been perfect ever since

Nice

This might not be any help but I had the abs and the triangle on my dash in red, so I gave BMW a ring and told me to change the break light bulb but also look at the conetion, it was very dirty. Cleaned it out put a new bulb in and it's good as new
