Reed valve cover 658?

Afternoon all,

Just putting in new spark plugs and it looks like there's a bit missing ie the reed valve cover. Checked Haynes who say it's not on a 658 but should there not be some sort of cover? It seems to be an open channel for dirt to fall into the engine?

I'm fairly sure it's not called a 'reed valve cover'. You find them on 2 strokes!
