Reiten Motorrad update

It's only a few months since their MCN trophy too, but we all know last year accounts looked pretty tragic, in need of fresh capital if they were to survive as a franchise dealer.

Wow - that's pretty significant. Buddy of mine is booked for a new engine under warranty (corrosion) in his 1250 - hope this doesn't change anything.

It leaves EA pretty poorly served for BMW dealers. Perhaps BMW are pushing for fewer dealers with larger volumes - I know this is certainly occurring in the agricultural sector, with smaller players being absorbed by larger outfits.

Smacks of the times during 2011/12 when Hardly Dangerous dealerships were closing their doors one after the other.
ISTR the Summer Retail group went down with three from Stockport, Leeds and Doncaster.
Fire sale with lots of stock auctioned.
Then Lincoln HD went soon afterwards. 🫤

New Year, New Reiten! - Please read, important notice 🏍️
We’re kicking off 2025 with a BIG announcement that marks an exciting new chapter for Reiten Motorrad!
As of January 2025, we will no longer be selling new BMW motorcycles.
Why the change? It’s no secret that staying a BMW New Bike Retailer comes with substantial requirements, BMW’s new corporate identity necessitates a significant investment, and combined with rising competition in the market and the current economic climate, this just isn't viable.
We will however, still proudly continue as an Authorised BMW Service Centre, providing all your servicing, maintenance and warranty needs with the expertise and care you’ve come to expect from Reiten. This change lets us focus even more on delivering the exceptional service that’s made us who we are, whilst also opening up exciting opportunities to diversify and grow.
We know this might come as a surprise, but rest assured – We’re here to stay, and we’re as committed as ever to supporting you and your bikes.
Thank you for your loyalty and trust over the years. Together, we’re stepping into a future full of possibilities and we can’t wait to continue this journey with you.
Here’s to new adventures!
FAQs
Q) I’ve got a new bike on order. What happens next?
A) No worries – all bikes currently on order are in production, and we’ll deliver them as planned.
Q) Can I still get my BMW services or warranty work done?
A) Absolutely! We’ll continue as a BMW Service Centre for all your servicing and warranty needs.
Q) What bikes will you be selling now?
A) We’re focusing on used bikes, expanding our range to include more brands, models and sizes – all prepared to the impeccable Reiten standards you know and trust.
Q) Are you taking on another manufacturer?
A) Not right now. Our focus is solely on used bikes, but who knows what the future might bring?
Q) Will you still have demo bikes?
A) No demo bikes, but we’ll have a great selection of used bikes. If something catches your eye, our team can arrange a test ride! And we’ll still offer loan bikes for service customers at a daily rate.
Q) What about BMW Approved Used Bikes?
A) While we can’t sell BMW Approved Used bikes without being a new bike retailer, you’ll still find exceptional used BMWs here, prepared to the highest standards and backed by a comprehensive warranty.
Got more questions? Just give us a shout and we’ll be happy to help.
Here’s to a thrilling 2025 – together!

I purchased Reitons very first New bike. back in 2018 before they officially opened. Our relationship broke down directly after the machines first (600) service. I wont go into it. But I never went back. Shocking behavior.
I was immediately blocked from all of their socials. I guess from fear of my experience coming out.
Reading this today is no surprised to me. It will be very tough.
I wish them well in the future.

Had my bike from them , best service I had from bmw over 6 bmw bikes . Some times all bikes go wrong and need fixing . It all about big money and big dealers, no one knows who you are or gives a shit just want the next sale . So stay with who you know reiten are best around the area .

❗️NOTICE OF BUSINESS CLOSURE❗

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Reiten Motorrad, Suffolk, has ceased trading and has entered voluntary liquidation.

Opening our own BMW showroom in 2018 was a long-held dream, and we pursued it with belief, hard work and pride. We built a loyal customer base and worked tirelessly to grow the business through some incredibly challenging years. Covid struck before we had the chance to gain real momentum, and the financial and operational pressures that followed made trading increasingly difficult.

Over time, the costs and requirements associated with being a BMW dealer increased, and meeting these standards as a small, independent business became progressively more demanding. At the same time, wider market conditions shifted. Interest rates rose sharply and significant discounting within the network placed additional pressure on us as a family-run dealership.

In the last year we expanded our workshop to support customers across Suffolk and Norfolk based on our understanding of the service arrangements in place at the time. Changes to these arrangements, combined with the difficult economic landscape and the cumulative pressures of recent years, created challenges that became impossible for us to overcome.

Our experience highlighted the difficulties faced by small independent dealerships operating within a large national network. While the structure may work well for some, it ultimately became unsustainable for us despite our best efforts and our commitment to the brand and our customers.

We also want to express our sincere appreciation to MotoGB. Our experience with them has been extremely positive, and their support throughout our partnership has been greatly valued.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision and not one we ever imagined having to make. We poured everything into this business emotionally and financially, and we are truly grateful to everyone who supported us. To our customers, suppliers, friends and the local motorcycling community—thank you. Your trust, loyalty and encouragement meant more than we can ever express.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

Rachelle, David and the Team.

Always sad to hear the closure of a dealership/business.

For me it shows how out of touch the ‘Premium’ manufacturers are with market conditions and the viability of their dealers with the demands made of them.
Mainly it helps the ‘budget’ brands currently arriving in their droves from China.

Weren't Reiten just in with GB motorcycles...so the Chinese brands, Voge etc ?
You can see the writing on the wall for BMW dealerships...there'll be fewer of them...all mandated to keep upgrading their showrooms (meaninglessly with a new shade of grey tile and poncy new coffee cups...) A friend had a Subaru dealership for many years until about 16 yrs ago when they instructed him how he needed to rip out the relatively new showroom for that years corporate variety..at his expense. He binned them off and started selling Kia...a good move.
