Hi I have an BMW 1150 Adventurer 2004 with 22000 miles and has developed a knocking in time with the speed of the engine, it appears to be comming from the Gearbox and also the gearbox engages with a clunk and appears to sometimes not to connect after letting the clutch out and then goes in suddenly with a clunk, could this be a release bearing, thanks in advance for any help

Does it knock when you rev the motor in neutral?.
There is a spring plate that pushes the plates together.
BWM gearboxes are a bit basic and do make strange noises sometimes.
Might be worth cleaning the gear lever pivot bushing.
"appears not to connect".Try loading the gear lever when you feed the clutch in.
Are you keen on wheelies?.
Do you have clutch slip problems?.

Could be your slave cylinder. But thats only guess as your information isn't very clear.

i.e. does it do it when hot/cold/all the time/now and again etc etc
