Question ... why spend money on a pc3 and then more money getting that mapped?

Least thats my thinking, i went the remap ecu route because loads of ppl have had it done by geoff and the results appeared to be proven, i can now vouch and say its the best 350 pounds ive spent on any bike ive had...

Here,s another happy chappie after a Geoff remap ! :thumb
I fitted a full Akro system on my 2012 GSA . I have decatted all of my previous 4 gs/gsa 's to improve mid range torque . With previous bikes I never had them remapped. However with the TC it was obviously not running smoothly, although performing better than stock. After seeing this thread , and talking to Geoff ( If your not sure what you want , give him a ring , he is very easy to talk to !) Long hot run down to Earl Shilton , but worth every bit of sweat!
Bike transformed ! An even greater joy to ride ! Best non farkle I have spent on it !!
:flag :clap

Answer: you can remove the PC when you sell the bike. If you sell it on the end result is a lot less than the £350 you've spent, with the same result....simples.
Did the remap on my multistroodle. trust me you get no more for it at trade in :rob

Fair enough answer, which is true. But my GSA is a keeper lol

That was my exact reason for going for the remap - my GSA is a keeper to. I did have a Wunderlich Fuel Controller fitted which performance wise was quite good but it failed once leaving me stranded in need of recovery. Although that was replaced with a new unit, the extra wiring and controller itself are added failure points. There's other issues with road use and insurance so went back to basics on the installation and went for a remap. This has given me more confidence on reliability and long term engine life with the most efficient fueling now on board.

Had mine done yesterday. 2013 GSA with 900 miles on clock. Main reason was I was not enjoying the slight vibration and flat spot at 70 mph which was irritating me having traded in a Pan which was super smooth ( but uncomfortable knee/ back bend). Pan is also feels a lot more powerful on the throttle but tends to whisk you up to silly speeds in a not particularly satisfying way versus the grin making GS.

Geoff commented that the bike was a little bit tight and the new max power of 99bhp in comparison with other twin cams bears this out. I do think the tightness was showing up particularly in acceleration from 6-8k which seemed to be linear with the midrange. After the remap showing a 20% power increase it has a real seat of the pants kick in the higher rev range and seems to pick up its revs into this range more freely. Before it was kind of making more noise but accelerating in the same way whereas now you get that sort of running away with you feeling that you get on more high performance bikes.

It is more willing to rev as you go up through the gears and when overtaking etc. In a way it feels as though its changed the perfectly acceptable performance of the standard bike and reminds me more of the 'I want to hoon about all the time' that I noticed when testing an LC. A quick action throttle would no doubt make this even more so. So the changes are most noticeable when pressing on which isn't the way that many of us ride that frequently.

I also agree with others that bike seems slightly smoother, more tractable eg at 30 mph in third, and cruises more sweetly at motorway speeds which was my main objective.

I have read pretty much all of this thread and can see both sides of the argument It is faster but not as much faster as you might think from the figures so while I have tried to be honest in my write up I hope I haven't oversold in an attempt at self justification. It is a smoother and more fun bike to ride but there is not much wrong with the original TC either. If you can spare £350 it's a ( (very) nice to have but if you've got a TC and money is tight my advice don't let worrying about not having it done spoil your enjoyment of a great bike.

I am glad I had it done and a day out and natter at Geoff's is a good all round experience if biking is your thing.

Oooo 99hp this must mean the non twin cams are better, mines 103 hah to ur fancy twin cam :-p only kidding much better ride tho isnt it :-)

I spoke to Geoff this week about mapping my 2013 GSA and will get it scheduled in for September.

It's useful to hear all the positive responses and Geoff was certainly very happy to explain all. I've mapped my last two Tdi Audis and will go straight to the rolling road with my next one in Feb too.

Remap

Remap at hilltop today with very satisfying results,it's all been noted here before so another happy camper

Remap this week

At the risk of this getting predictable, another great result for the remap. I had mine done on Monday. It's an 08 GS, 15k, with Keihan decat headers and Beowulf can (baffles in). Went in with peak bhp 88 & 70.5 ft/lb torque, finished at just shy of 97 bhp and torque up to 86.7 ft/lb, increases of 9.5 & 23% respectively. :thumb
Done a bit over 250 miles since having it done, and it's definitely got a lot more urge, and if you wind it on in 3rd and 4th it feels significantly different. I always felt it was a little lacking in grunt, not so much a problem solo, but 2 up with luggage, I just felt there should be more oomph. Haven't tried it like this since the remap, but looking forward to it.
A further positive improvement though - it's much smoother running, and makes town traffic work a lot better. This was evident as soon as I pulled off the forecourt.
Fuel consumption hasn't suffered, I calculated 51mpg over a tank, which is around my normal rate - pretty good since I've been enthusiastic with the throttle since the mod (only for journalistic purposes, you understand :D ).
Also agree with the comments about Geoff being a good guy - interesting tales, happy to answer questions, and share info.
All in all, pleased I had it done, looking forward to many more happy miles.

Here's a snapshot of the difference by getting rid of the low rev leanness that the standard TC mapping gives. Beside St. Andrews is a long deserted straight single track road. After a long days riding I wanted to chill along here. 3rd gear hand off throttle it pulled smoothly along on tick over for half a mile. Have never been able to do that before. My old gs would have had me hunting up and down the box and would have shook itself to bits if I tried that trick. BTW before all the safety bods worry about being away from the front brake it was clear far ahead on a lovely sunny evening - a really memorable biking experience.

I've decided to put Akra headers on to go with the silencer before the remap to get full volume from the GSA...

Excellent combination. I had that set up on mine before I went to Geoff in July .
Awesome sound and fantastic improvement. Haven't dared try it with the baffle out though!!

The baffle on the Akra' system is so slight I doubt it makes much difference..

Ive got an Akra shotgun system. Having it remapped without baffles could well end up a compromised map when I later put the baffles back in. It's loud enough without baffles to get unwanted attention from the boys in blue.
