Remap by Hilltop Motorcycles

Ive got an Akra shotgun system. Having it remapped without baffles could well end up a compromised map when I later put the baffles back in. It's loud enough without baffles to get unwanted attention from the boys in blue.

Hi, not true, Geoff explained to me that the map he uses is "self learning" i.e will adjust depending on what type of exhaust you have...

The ECU is designed to work with a range of exhausts etc that affect air/gas flow. This is why a new exhaust can does not immediately mess up the mixture control.

Geoff changes the map, but the learning facility/adaptability is already part of the ECU programming.

Interesting - although presumably have your full system fitted before being mapped would produce the better result.

Well as a doubter I ended up at Hilltop yesterday to meet a friend who was having his bike remapped so while I was there I got mine done.

So on it goes 3 runs later all done I did not expect much as I rode out but if I was not happy it could be put back to standard so what's to loose.

As soon as it was started it was smoother ticking over and Then for the ride home its like a different bike pulls better and is so much smoother so as a doubter its well worth the money so a thank you to Geoff

I've been tickled by Geoff.

I've only been and gone and done it. :D
Always fitted loud pipes to my previous bikes, so stood to reason i would end up putting one on the 1200.
It's never run very well and with the new pipes and can fitted it ran even worse AND a fucksight noisier:blast
I know, i'll give Hilltop a call and see what they say, that was at 12.00pm............. 9.30am the next morning i'm pitching up outside, booked in to have a fettle of the ECU:eek:
I explained what the trouble was and what i'd done to it, then :bow Geoff :bow explained the who, why, whats and whens in language i could understand and went to work.:hammer A couple of hours later he grins and sez "my work here is done":thumb2
I had to give up the gixer thou because of bad back, knees, neck, wristes and failing eye sight. (Yeah yeah i know its called old age:rob) so thought i would get a sensible bike thats a bit kinder on the old joints and 'er in doors enjoys getting on the back of, but i was almost regretting the choice. lumpy slow rideing and lacking in umph! when it came to making progress two up.
But for the cost of a remap (some may say not cheap) as far as i'm concerned its well worth it, i think i've got a completely different bike, smooth as silk and not to loud in town on a whiff of throttle, but leave the 30mph limits behind and crack the throttle open:eek: no need to ring its neck, keep revs between 3-6 thou and it pulls like a train.
50 mile from home to Hilltop 42.1mpg. fast motorway/dual carriageway.
165mile ride home 46.3mpg????? fast every where, motorway, A & B roads.

Some good gains there mate..:thumby:

What GS do you have SC or TC ??

oooh the super quick red ones. Something to do with the slippery pigments I believe:beerjug:

Strap your self in. You could be in for a bumpy ride from disappointed owners of other colours:augie

(proud owner of a really quick red one)

Good results, and Geoff works his magic again :)

Still happy with mine on my GSA TC 9k after it was done.

And another!

'13 GSA TC completely standard, stock headers and can, mileage 2K

Before: 82.9 bhp, 70.23 ft/lb
After: 102.54 bhp, 83.25 ft/lb

Still has the boxer twin personality but a smoother power delivery than I've had on any previous GS with various headers and cans. Money well spent!

Thinking of getting this done on my ' 08 GSA .
My only question is at the moment I have stock headers & cat with an Akrapovic can. Would I get more benefit from remap or by buying Akrapovic headers ? At the moment I don't think funds will allow for both.

I find it very hard to believe that you can get a 25% increase in power with nothing more than a remap, I know new vehicles have to comply with emission regs etc but if there was that much power there why would any manufacturer sell themselves that short ??????

I was wondering the same. A BMW M3 which is a 4lt N/A engine gains 15bhp after a remap? That is something like a 4-5% increase. I would expect a 20bhp increase on that weight would feel like gaining 130-150 bhp on a car...
I am thinking on remapping my GSA too, but the before-after testimonials mainly refer to smoothness, etc. With 20 extra bhp I would expect the bike to be a lot faster than before!

MH, that's just the sort of benefits I'm hoping to see this year if I get round to getting mine done. Nice to see the gains got on stock system, as is mine. Thanks for posting.

I had mine done and yes the paperwork does show a dramatic increase in power and torque, does this translate to a major increase in performance? I can say it certainly is a much better bike to ride its smoother and the power delivery is much improved which at the end of the day is what i was after. In my opinion it was money well spent.

Has anybody had their bike on a before and after dyno session on a dyno not connected to the person doing the work? ........................... I still find it very hard to believe those figures are correct.

Ooh you are so cynical. The answer is no, they are all far to busy helping air crash investigation teams :augie
