If you buy a power commander you will open access up a lot of tuners.
Don't know of anybody else who can flash the original ecu.

I fancy remapping my TC,but Hilltop is a bit of distance away ... Anybody had an alternative company do it in the North West ?
It's well worth the trip to Hilltop M/C's.
I'm from Sheffield so we're a similar distance and while it's not just round the corner,I doubt you'd be disappointed.
I was taking a 2009 R1200R (which I still own) over to Spain as my ride while we're at our apartment. I had it done at Hilltop M/C's while we had some breakfast and it came back to me a different bike. More torque,13 more horses and more economical. I regularly see 55mpg+ belting round the mountains in land from the Costa del Sol.
What's not to like?
I've had quite a few Power Commanders on various bikes and they're a double edged sword.
1,If you buy one and download a map,is it exactly right for your bike at that time?
2,Unlike a remap,you still have something of value to re-sell when you take it off the bike.
Having experienced both,I doubt I'll by another Power Commander.

Get a Power Commander and find a local dyno to get it set up properly. Will cost you no more than the remap and give you the same results if not better as you can tailor the fuelling and power delivery to suit yourself.

Hammer & Tongs in Warrington did my power commander for me with a custom mapping. Very neat installation and everything you expect from a remap.

If I ever have a Hilltop remap then id be taking my GSA to mikeyboy on the way for a service and to make sure the bike was running correctly first, then take it down the road to Hilltop.
IIRC you can send your ECU in to be remapped, then Geoff will post it back to you. Obviously this isn't quite as good as getting the bike done on the DYNO but it might be an option. Best speak to Geoff and see what he says.

My PC was bought used from another GSer. His bike had a similar setup to mine. A dyno run will fine tune it but for now it's working well.

Try giving these a call. Apart from making exhausts they have a rolling road and all the kit for remaps, tuning etc...

The only other "remapping of ECU" or "reflashing the ECU" - is JHP Racing at Ducati Coventry, as far as I am aware (other than model-specific re-flashing like "Flashtune" by Vellox -for R-1s)

I’m not sure re the finer technicalities (being a none techy), that’s why I’ve included the phone number to speak with them.
If they can’t do it they’ll certainly know someone who will. They are very helpful and have been around a long time and well worth a call.
That is a viable option. A few owners in Jersey have used our local Yamaha and Honda dealer to remove the ecu for them and send it over to Hilltop. they did about 6 bikes all at the same time. It was effectively a ride in, leave the bike with them and collected it about 3 days later all sorted.
I know a few of them and they are very pleased with the results.

Unless their bikes were extremely "radical" compared to standard - that should be a fairlly safe way of doing it.............
Hilltop (Geoff) will have sufficient maps created - to get it very close. Additionally - I believe his programming facilitates a 10% (approx) self-learning - which would appear to enable fine-tuning for any slight variations that the bike may offer?

I'm in Northern Ireland and really want the hilltop treatment.
For me it's either Ferry to Scotland then Hotel and return.
Or overnight Liverpool ferry and home via Scotland ferry. Either way it's an overnighter and £150 inc fuel.
I phoned Geoff and discussed the ECU only option. Price still £360 including secure postage.
So, If I'm gonna do this, I'd prefer that the remap was specific to my bike, not a genetic map.
I do hope to do it in spring, but to do it right it will probably cost me about £500 because of my location.
You could time it to coincide with the GS event in Dent @ the end of May and have a proper mini break....
.....just a thought like.....
