Just taken off the standard pipe to add some Remus headers to go with my Quill end can, and would like to add to this thread-
The Remus headers are 3-4 mm larger in diameter and the junction seems designed to smooth both gas flows. It also comes with a rubber mount at this junction.
I also looked at headers from Quill(£220) and Motad (on offer in Jan £180) both these are only electricaly polished so will need you to finish the job if you want them to shine. These have no junction mount and I feel they may transfer vibration to the can.
Whilst the standard pipe starts narrower it also has a welded ridge inside the neck reducing the pipe by at least another 4mm.
Buel narrowed their headers when they fitted a Cat and lost a lot of torque.
Anyone cutting out the Cat in the standard pipe should take a grinder to the welding too.
Has anyone tried drilling out the Cat as it is visible?
I now have a standard chromed pipe for sale if anyone wants to try cutting out the Cat.
