Need to remove my rear suspension unit on 2013 LC GS (dynamic ESA standard height - black shock). It looks straightforward so would like to have a go myself but no specific instructions/video's online. Hoping my £12 UKGser membership is better than a Haynes manual...

Can anybody provide a rough set of instructions and anything in particular to watch-out for?

As per previous posts, my rear unit has mechanically failed at 27K so plan to get rebuilt through FireFox Suspension. Alternative, is to buy off eBay but may need recoding by dealer. Eitherway, I need the existing unit out - BMW quoted ~£90 to fit so assuming it's not that difficult.

Thanks

If you ask the service adviser at your local dealership they can print the instructions off

I have done it,
It really is easy, and done on mainstand no special tools,
Take seats off and wheel out ,
slacken bottom shock bolt
Slacken rear subframe top mount bolts,
remove top shock bolt , and put something under the brake disc to support the shaft,
Remove 2 bolts on rear brake master cylinder/ heel plate, + resevoir bolt,
Remove lower subframe bolts while taking the weight off /lifting
Hinge the subframe up while steadying shock ,
Then chock /suspend the subframe up while you replace the shock,
The lower shock bolt has a sliding pinch bush which will move if you move the shock gently side to side,
I may have some pictures as i fitted ohlins non esa front and rear,
Roamer,

I think the shock can be change ok, its the level sensor that needs to be calibrated by the dealer.
