Remus Can vs. OE can?

Big Dens Bike

Well I bought Big dens bike ( much further down the line) and in the first week of ownership removed the O/E silencer and put on a nice Remus Revolution.....
One week after that I took the Revolution off and put the O/E back.
Den was right
The noise of the Remus was irritating especially on 100mile plus rides ( my regular Derby and back to see daughter at University!)
So I stick with the Cat removed ( now runs a Y piece) and the O/E
Perhaps its an age thing???

Remus too noisy

I'm fed up with my Remus because of the noise too (always wear earplugs)

Can't bring myself to put back the original though because it's SOOOOOOOOO heavy!

I need a Remus ti weight with the sound of the OE can.

Any suggestions?

Or you could try this....works well, not noisy and passed MOT....no weight of the OE Can...just a wee pipe...

I've got a full Remus,with Baffle in place,on my 06 GS.Fitted from new,i never used the bike with the OE system.I do not use my bike regularly,but when i do,it is on a run of a reasonable distance.I always use ear plugs (just the cheap sponge ones) and i don't find the noise offensive or intrusive.
Perversely,taking the baffle out quietens things down.I've not tried it on my bike,but had it demonstrated by a guy with a GS12 when i asked him about this.
I'm 53 and have no hearing problems.

mountain passes/tunnels are great. sounds awesome
standard can = singer sewing machine
7k miles+ in two tours in 2007 i'll keep the noise thank you and i only wear foam earplugs

I'm pretty new on here and have been watching the Exhaust related posts.

Been thinking of changing the exhaust but from what you guys are saying the remus can seems to give no power or torque gains.

Would i be right in thinking that a replacement 'Y' section with standard can is the best way to go.

By the way, has anyone tried a Power commander.

I've said this elsewhere but i had a dyno run at TT07 and got 95 BHP and 98 lbs Torque.The dyno op said that was better than std.Changing the Y piece must release power due to the cat being removed,likewise the Remus can is less restrictive than std.Why not try your bike on a dyno and see what std gives ? You'll have an idea of what gains the Remus will give bearing in mind there will be variations due to weather etc.

Good idea. I'm off to the States at the end of the year so might take advantage of the exchange rates and try a Power Commander.

Not too bothered about noise issues as I have a couple of other bikes that are quite loud.

Yes, I did see that it was an old link, but there were some new replies and so I thought it might just still be of interest to some of us tossers who may prefer a full-blooded, manly backfire instead of the girly one that a standard can provides

Remus Midrange with Remus can + K&N Filter???

I have just fitted the Remus carbon can to my '07 GS...looks great..weighs less...flatter midrange...

If you look at the power gain graph on the Remus info (NippyNorman Downloads) it does show a considerable 'drop' in power at about 3.5k rpm.
This is right where you don't need it!!!! Hey ho..

So far I'm finding it hard to justify the cost over the standard can...but before
I do anything drastic has anyone found any advantage or improvement from fitting a K&N filter??
