Fitted Renthal Twinwall 999's to my 12 GS on Sunday, really easy job following Mouse's and Tobers' instructions.:thumb2:beerjug::thumb2

Makes the bike feel very compact and makes filtering into london a fair bit easier. I have not yet fitted the handguards back on as this will require making the bars and xtra 2 inches wider when the bar ends are bolted on. I will ride this week to see how the lack of handguardsaffects my pinkies, but i can say that there was an iota less buffeting today without the handguards on!!!!

There is a fair bit more vibration in the bars now(they must weigh about half what the OEM bars weigh and with no end weights as well), but the is less unpleasant than on the OEM setup. I also had no tingling or numb sensation in my right arm, which occurred after about 20 miles with hte OEM bars. I will keep posting with any changes during the week.:thumb:thumb

Can anyone tell me if it will help to weight the renthals up by stuffing lead into end of the bars????

The other area of concern is the fact that the right and left grips are mounted differently - the right grip and control cluster are actually clamped to the bars, this is good. However the left grip and control cluster is fixed to the bars by two screws which screw into holes in the bars, not a major problem until you want to move the bars, then you need to drill more holes. Do any experts out there have a logical explanation for this????
My left grip slid off the old bars and onto the renthals really easily - I don't want to drill the holes until I have the bars setup correctly for me, hence the left grip is a tad loose.:eek:

looking forwrfd to any sane replies, Simon.

Hi Simon,
On my bike, the left hand assembly was a tight enough fit on the bar to not need the screws, which is useful until you are totally happy with the positioning. Mine still isn't screwed on. Try wrapping some thin tape around the bar.
I have re-fitted the bar end weights and hand guards though, simply cut the narrower end off and fasten with a steel expander bolt.
