Can anyone help here please..

I have a 2008 GSA and ordered a FULL clutch kit as here...

http://www.james-sherlock.co.uk/component/virtuemart/?page=shop.browse&category_id=158

Fitted it, no problems however... Clutch bite point was right against the bar. Its now settled down to a more 'normal' bite point but I've noticed that the pressure plate on the same page is specified as 'to 04/06'.

I've asked Sherlocks if the clutch kit supplied is the correct pressure plate for my bike, all I get back is a message to say they have a mechanic available to fit it:blast

I split the bike and did it myself, do ALL my servicing etc so don't really need the 'mechanic'.

Can anyone shed light on the difference between pre and post 04/06 pressure plates? Seem to recall its something to do with the pushrods but unsure.

Await advice from the wise...

Roger.

That response sounds a little like Sherlocks, was your plate worn out? has it done a lot of miles? I've just done mine which is an '07 model, 23,750 miles plate was like new but gearbox input oil seal was leaking, replaced with a 'revision four seal' but I put a Siebenrock plate in from Motobins, which according to the bullshit is supposed to be able to run in a bath of oil...............and not slip. Not the cheapest but we'll see. They only supply one plate for everything pre twin cam I think..............so you may be alright. I know that feeling..............I don't need a mechanic! Well done you!

when the clutch went on my 07 model I got a clutch kit from sherlocks too. To be honest I never really took much notice of the packaging just made sure it looked exactly the same as the one I took out.
My bite point on the clutch is also just off the grip, always has been since I fitted the new one. it has done 5 K miles now and has not changed place, bike pulls well have no issues with it at all.
I fitted it my self too.
